Birds
894 bird species have been recorded in Costa Rica. Macaws are definitely some of the most fascinating amongst them. Several species of Macaws can be seen in Costa Rica such as the Great Green Macaw or the Scarlet Macaw.
Toucans are another animal on the most avid birders bucket list. One of the world’s most colourful birds. Six different kinds of toucans can be viewed during an expedition cruise along Costa Rica’s National Parks.
Sloths
Two different species of the quirky looking sloth can also be found in Costa Rica: the brown-throated sloth and Hoffmann’s two-toed sloth. Sloths have an incredibly slow digestive system, which makes them really slow. This is why they evolved to save their energy as much as possible. They can sleep up to 20 hours a day and move very slowly..hence the name sloth!
Marine Mammals
