Soon we will be venturing to warmer climates on our inaugural sailings to Central America, and Scotland & Ireland. This summer will also see additional itineraries of our popular Canadian Signature Experience ‘Fins and Fiddles’ on Canada’s East Coast. Passengers of all ages, fitness levels and diverse interests will be able to choose from an array of new activities, as part of our new Active Discovery experiences programming.
With access to some of the most remote coastal areas, our guests will have the opportunity to venture into pristine bays and hidden coves, only accessible by small expedition cruise ship. RCGS Resolute, our newest vessel, is ideally suited to explore warmer waters, due to its outdoor deck space and many exceptional panoramic viewing areas. With its small size and versatility, the ship is able to optimize coastal routes that would otherwise be inaccessible, allowing guests to Zodiac, kayak and stand-up paddle to shore.
“In these itineraries, there are literally places you just couldn’t get to in a large ship without pulling up to a dock and getting on a bus. To really do it like we do it, it makes a huge difference,” says Andrew Prossin, Managing Director of OOE, “We can get the ship into small bays and land on the beach by Zodiac. This is true expedition cruising.”
Our approach to ‘Active Discovery’ programming is to offer the perfect blend of activities, wildlife viewing, relaxation, rich culture and historical points of interest, all included in the voyage fare. Guests can participate in bicycle journeys, hiking or any number of small-group outings, as well as water-based excursions such as stand up paddle boarding, sea kayaking, snorkelling or Zodiac cruising. A highly sought-after addition to this compilation of select itineraries are the new golf voyages, launched on both Canada’s East Coast and in Scotland and Ireland.
With an extensive range of culturally diverse regions, the Active Discovery program also includes activities such as whiskey tastings, museum visits, and health and wellness onboard, such as yoga and meditation.
