Explore – A New Canadian Geographic Podcast

How did ultrarunner Ray Zahab go from being a pack-a-day smoker to crossing deserts and tundra on foot? What tiny fish saved diver Jill Heinerth’s life in an Antarctic ice cave? Why did an encounter with a polar bear give actor Johnny Issaluk a new perspective on life? These questions and more will be answered on the first season of Explore: A Canadian Geographic podcast, presented by One Ocean Expeditions.

Hosted by veteran broadcast journalist David McGuffin, Explore is a weekly series of hour-long conversations with Canada’s greatest explorers — men and women from diverse backgrounds and experiences, talking about their adventures and how Canada and its landscape have shaped their understanding of the world around us.

Guests include Dr. Roberta Bondar, Canada’s first female astronaut and the first neurologist in space, explorer and best-selling author Adam Shoalts, professional adventurer George Kourounis and more.

New episodes will be uploaded every Thursday starting April 11, 2019. You can listen on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play Music and SoundCloud, as well as right here at canadiangeographic.ca. Be sure to subscribe on the platform of your choice to be notified of new episodes, and if you like what you hear, give us a rating and review.

Explore has been made possible with support from One Ocean Expeditions, the exclusive expedition cruise partner of The Royal Canadian Geographical Society. One Ocean Expeditions offers one-of-a-kind expedition travel experiences in some of the most remote regions of the planet.
