Preparation for Departure for Whale Scientists!
Category: Polar Science
Polar science is an important part of One Ocean Expeditions’ voyages to Antarctica and the Arctic because the oceans in the Polar Regions are known to be the most efficient in early warning detection as they are often the most highly affected by global environmental changes. This is why One Ocean Expeditions selects research partners, who are executing important and relevant research projects, to travel alongside guests and conduct science while onboard our expedition cruises. The Vancouver Aquarium, Oregon State University, Oceanites and the Australian Antarctic Division are among the well renown scientists who collect research samples to share it first hand with passengers and use the data for international science projects. Research may range from collecting data for critical meteorological and oceanographic studies used at an international level, to the tagging and tracking of migrant whale populations for universities and science institutions.
