Arctic Art Travel Exhibit

Cory Trepanier’s Arctic Art exhibition launches at embassy of Canada in  Washington, D.C.

‘Into The Arctic’, an arctic art travelling exhibition by Cory Trépanier, is now premiering in Washington, D.C. at the Embassy of Canada (Jan10 – Feb 28, 2017).  From there this incredible collection will travel throughout the United States, sharing the inspiration and wilderness only found in the Canadian Arctic. This outstanding art exhibit, from Trépanier’s four Arctic expeditions, showcases an unprecedented collection of documentary films and 50 original Arctic oil paintings, including one of the largest Arctic landscape paintings in Canada’s history – a 15-foot painting of a glacier moving into the Arctic ocean.

“Exploring and painting this remote part of the world – by foot, canoe, camping and traveling with local Inuit – prepares me to experience nature’s wonder on a visceral and emotional level. Through this intimate approach, I experienced firsthand the awe and overwhelming sense of humility that is brought on from the realization of how tiny we are in these expansive landscapes,” says Trépanier.

One Ocean Expeditions is supporting Cory Trépanier and his impressive art work. With diligent planning and compassion, it has been possible to transport Cory to remote areas of the Arctic. One Ocean Expeditions provides the most opportune platform, relying on waterways to sail towards the most remote and stunning areas of Canada with little infrastructure, a crucial component to Cory Trépanier’s work.

As a continued means of supporting visual artists, One Ocean Expeditions is proud to sponsor Cory Trépanier’s ‘Into The Arctic’  exhibition tour.   Guests have the exclusive opportunity to travel alongside Cory Trépanier on board One Ocean Expeditions voyages, and through Cory’s visual storytelling, guests learn how to view remote areas of the world from an artistic perspective, bringing culture, wildlife and history to a new level.

The exhibition premieres at the Embassy of Canada art gallery in Washington D.C. until February 28, 2017, and will then travel to seven museums across the US for over two years, engaging and inspiring audiences with the grandeur of the Arctic. He was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Living Explorers by Canadian Geographic magazine. He is also a member of the Explorers Club of Canada, and was honoured with it’s highest award, the Stefansson Medal.  Close interactions with his subjects through extensive exploration transforms his canvases into compelling paintings.
